Moving Your Unit Forward Following the 2021 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Survey: A Retreat for Academic and Administrative Leaders (Part 2)
This day-long retreat will bring together Duke’s school leadership teams, academic unit leaders, department chairs and leaders of administrative units to continue the collaborative work of improving local climates and creating equitable practices. This gathering will follow-up on leadership retreats held in early 2022 where academic and administrative leaders reflected on the results of the 2021 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Climate Survey. For more information on the climate survey, please visit messages from President Price and the Duke Racial Equity Advisory Council.
The event will be opened by President Price and include remarks from Interim Provost Francis and other institutional leaders.
Leaders will:
- Engage in facilitated discussions to reflect on progress in their units, and consider the challenges that have prevented the work from advancing.
- Hear from colleagues in a range of academic and administrative leadership roles about successful practices in their units.
- Engage with institutional leaders about resources, practical tools and supportive measures available to leaders to improve local climates and move ideas into actionable steps.
- Adopt new institutional reporting mechanisms to assist units in identifying points of intervention.
