How to Connect Across Differences
Jim Ferrell
Students increasingly struggle to engage across differences, and many educators feel caught between avoiding hard topics and opening conversations that could fracture a classroom. In this interactive workshop, Jim Ferrell, bestselling author of "You and We, Leadership and Self-Deception," and "The Anatomy of Peace," explores how to increase engagement and connectivity by focusing on the space between people rather than on the individuals themselves. Ferrell will dive into the science of relation, demonstrate how to see and measure connectivity, and provide frameworks and tools for building connectivity in any social space. These include the five levels of connectivity, relational mapping, and four-quadrant thinking for creating environments where people with opposing views can engage with curiosity rather than defensiveness. Those who attend will leave better equipped to build spaces where people can disagree well and learn from one another.
