Our Faculty Advancement & Success (FAS) suite of programs supports faculty in the various aspects of their professional lives, including teaching, research and service.
New Faculty Orientation
This annual day-long program is designed to introduce new faculty to the various resources and opportunities available across the university and to provide guidance on teaching and engaging students.
Faculty Advancement & Success (FAS) Workshop Series
This workshop series provides learning opportunities, resources and networking for all faculty at Duke.
Duke Faculty Academy
The Duke Faculty Academy (“the Academy”) is a new professional development initiative designed to support cohorts of Duke faculty as they collectively learn approaches to build capacity and develop successful initiatives that creatively improve experiences in their academic units, and amplify their professional impact throughout their career lifespan.
Coaching
Faculty members have two options for receiving professional coaching from Maria LaMonaca Wisdom, director of faculty mentoring and coaching programs. They may apply for 1:1 coaching with the nomination of their department chair or sign up directly for group coaching. Department heads and other unit leaders may self-nominate for 1:1 coaching support related to leadership development.
Faculty Advancement Seed Grants
Seed grants are intended to provide a financial foundation for novel faculty-led development initiatives within academic units aiming to foster a sense of community and a welcoming and respectful climate for all members.
Ivy+ Faculty Advancement Network (FAN) Workshops
Duke is a founding member of the Ivy+ FAN, a consortium of national research universities that collaborate to advance diversity and inclusion in the American professoriate. The Inclusive Leadership Series is open to all Duke faculty.
