The Cradle Short Course

A nine-hole short course that even the newest to the game can enjoy. Designed by golf architect Gil Hanse, The Cradle features holes ranging from 56 to 127 yards. Mere steps from the Resort Clubhouse, it is the same area where, in 1898, Dr. Leroy Culver carved Pinehurst's first nine holes out of the sand. Over the next century, Pinehurst came to be referred to as the Cradle of American Golf.

When you visit Pinehurst, make sure and check out our 18-hole putting course, Thistle Dhu, located in front of the main clubhouse by the Putter Boy statue. Thistle Dhu is free for guests to play and is open to any level of golfer. Putters can be rented for free from the nearby Cradle short course.

The Tufts Archives

Located within The Given Library, across from The Holly Inn, is the Tufts Archives, which displays the rich heritage and history of Pinehurst. Free and open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. For information, call (910) 295-3642.

Carriage Rides

Explore the historic homes and charming streets of the Village of Pinehurst in the comfort of a horse-drawn carriage. Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed Central Park, created the Village to mirror a New England-style village with winding paths that encourage exploration. The carriage seats four comfortably.
