Engaging Constructively in Conflict

Conflict is inevitable in workplace interactions, but our approach to it determines whether it becomes a source of growth or disruption. This workshop examines the nature of conflict, common assumptions that shape our responses, and the difference between healthy and unhealthy conflict. Attendees will explore various types of conflict and be introduced to a conflict competence model that highlights its emotional, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions. Participants will learn strategies to assess and manage conflict productively, thereby strengthening both individual and team relationships.

Objectives:

1. Define conflict and understand its role in workplace dynamics.
2. Recognize prevailing beliefs about conflict and their impact on emotional and cognitive responses.
3. Distinguish between healthy and unhealthy conflict and their effects on workplace culture.
4. Identify the various types of workplace conflicts and how they affect interactions and possible interventions.
5. Utilize a conflict competence model to improve emotional awareness, cognitive flexibility, and constructive behaviors in conflict situations.
